The Challenge

As life in the working world becomes increasingly competitive, the adults of today and tomorrow will have to invest more in higher education. But as the cost of tuition rises, those who want to pursue a successful career need access to the ever-shrinking pool of scholarship dollars. To fill this gap, the Foundation for Safer Housing is stepping up to the challenge to create funding for anyone majoring in a four-year program relative to the housing industry.

The Foundation for Safer Housing Response

We can do better, for our future.

The Foundation for Safer Housing is a non-profit organization made up of concerned business and community leaders, elected officials and policymakers, philanthropists, education leaders and community service leaders…all of whom are committed to making college a reality for tomorrow’s leaders.  What makes the Foundation for Safer Housing unique in this mission is our commitment to all.  Applicants are no longer limited to high school seniors.  We are also aware, recognize and appreciate the needs of those who are in transition of improving their quality of life and education sometimes years after high school.

The Foundation for Safer Housing is a unique public/private collaboration that includes:

Working with established and successful organizations dedicated to the housing industry.

Coordinating with other organizations that provide college preparatory training and application information for students.

Awarding scholarships to students based on their potential.

An update from  our first scholarship recipient

“The Foundation for Safer Housing ” announced Michelle Lynne Coble from Horseheads, NY as our first Foundation scholarship winner in the spring of 2004. Michelle is an exceptional student that has graduated with a 3.8 GPA and in the top 10% of her graduating class. In the fall of 2004 she began attending the University of Notre Dame in Indiana to attain her BS in Architecture. As our first winner of the scholarship she is receiving a $500.00 per year scholarship allowance while attaining her degree.

The first two years were hard at work maintaining her 4.0 grade average.  This past year she has spent time over in Europe studying the old masters.  When she gets back home, we will have a further update, hopefully in detail about this everlasting experience.
