About Us...
Our History
The Foundation for Safer Housing was founded in 2003 by our current Executive Director Gary Johnson of Laurel, Maryland. Our mission was simple and direct, “raise funds and do charitable work”. A Board of Directors was selected from some of the groundbreaking volunteers and a charter was formulated and submitted to the Federal Government and State of Maryland. The Foundation for Safer Housing was accepted as a 501(c)(3) Charity organization as defined by the Internal Revenue Service and the State of Maryland. “The Foundation for Safer Housing, Inc.” is chartered in the State of Maryland. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
The Foundation for Safer Housing's first sponsor was The National Association of Certified Inspectors (NACHI). NACHI Founder and good friend, Nick Gromicko, along with our current Executive Director Gary Johnson, pledged their own monies to give the Foundation a starting budget. It is through their generosity and vision that the Foundation has grown to its current status in the charitable sector. An ongoing strong partnership still exists to this day with the members of NACHI, and many new partnerships with various corporations have been formulated and secured.

The Foundation took off in leaps and bounds. In our first year of existence we made sizeable charitable donations to:
- Habitat for Humanity
- The Clemons Fund in Florida
- The Clinic in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and
- Sweepings Cay Island
We established various programs, such as:
- Foundation Scholarship
- Alliance for Accessible Living
- Safe house Campaign
The Foundation for Safer Housing, Inc. has progressed in steady stages. Our mission statement has been revised and updated from its generic stage.
We have been awarded a federal grant from FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security aimed at assisting our nations hearing impaired community. 
Our Executive Staff
Executive Director: Our current Executive director is Gary Johnson, from Laurel, MD. Gary is one of the original members of The Foundation for Safer Housing. He is responsible for much of the initial processes that put the Foundation into existence.
President: Paul Sabados is the President of our Organization. Paul is a relentless and tireless worker who always sees our projects through to the end. He has been an independent businessman over the last 15 years.
Vice President: Blaine Wiley from Rotonda West, Florida serves as our Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer. He has been an independent businessman for over 12 years. Blaine has been serving as President of the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors since 2005
Vice President: John Bowman from Elmira, NY serves in the capacity of vice president and corporate liaison. John has served as Executive Director for the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors since 2005.
